Product Classification based on Supported Temperature range[edit | edit source]

According to DAVE Embedded Systems' nomenclature below the list of potential available temperature ranges:

  • "A" - automotive grade products are defined as those for which all the components are declared by respective manufacturers as having an operating ambient temperature range of -40°C/+125°C (or wider)
  • "B" - consumer grade products are defined as those for which all the components are declared by respective manufacturers as having an operating ambient temperature range of 0°C/+45°C (or wider)
  • "C" - commercial grade products are defined as those for which all the components are declared by respective manufacturers as having an operating ambient temperature range of 0°C/+70°C (or wider)
  • "D" - extended soho grade products are defined as those for which all the components are declared by respective manufacturers as having an operating ambient temperature range of -5°C/+65°C (or wider)
  • "E" - extended grade products are defined as those for which all the components are declared by respective manufacturers as having an operating ambient temperature range of -20°C/+85°C (or wider)
  • "G" - extended consumer grade products are defined as those for which all the components are declared by respective manufacturers as having an operating ambient temperature range of -10°C/+55°C (or wider)
  • "H" - reduced industrial grade products are defined as those for which all the components are declared by respective manufacturers as having an operating ambient temperature range of -30°C/+85°C (or wider)
  • "I" - industrial grade products are defined as those for which all the components are declared by respective manufacturers as having an operating ambient temperature range of -40°C/+85°C (or wider)
  • "M" - extended commercial grade products are defined as those for which all the components are declared by respective manufacturers as having an operating ambient temperature range of -20°C/+70°C (or wider)
  • "N" - nearly industrial grade products are defined as those for which all the core components are declared by respective manufacturers as having an operating ambient temperature range of -40°C/+85°C (or wider); some of the non-core components have a narrower range than -40°C/+85°C
  • "P" - wide commercial grade products are defined as those for which all the components are declared by respective manufacturers as having an operating ambient temperature range of -20°C/+105°C (or wider)
  • "S" - super commercial grade products are defined as those for which all the components are declared by respective manufacturers as having an operating ambient temperature range of 0°C/+85°C (or wider)
  • "Q" - Q grade products are defined as those for which all the components other than the SOC are declared by respective manufacturers as having an operating ambient temperature range of -40°C/+85°C (or wider). SOC temperature range must be -40°C/+125°C
  • "R" - R grade products are defined as those for which all the components other than the SOC are declared by respective manufacturers as having an operating ambient temperature range of -32°C/+60°C (or wider). This range is defined according to Low/High Operative Temperatures as per Mil-std 810G method 501.5 procedure II.

N.B. Junction temperature, as defined in component's datasheet, is considered in case operating ambient temperature is not declared.
