This adapter provides a switch that allows selecting the boot device according to the following table. The available boot options differ depending on the Axel Lite type. In this regard, there are basically two types: those that are equipped with both NOR and NAND flash, and those that are equipped with NAND flash only.

IntroductionEdit

Axel Lite requires a dedicated adapter to be plugged to the AxelEVB-Lite carrier board. This adapter:

  • provides the SODIMM socket for the AxelLite SOM
  • provides the following additional features:
    • microSD slot (for SD boot)
    • JTAG connector
    • dip-switch for boot mode selection
  • routes the signals from the AxelLite pins to the AxelEVB-Lite mating connectors

There are two versions of the adapter. Revision 0 is used in combination with the AxelEVB-Lite revision 0. Revision A is used in combination with the AxelEVB-Lite revision A.

Connectors' pinoutEdit

J6 - SODIMM connectorEdit

J6 is a TE Connectivity 204-pin SODIMM socket. The pinout matches the Axel Lite pinout.

J1, J2, J3 - AxelEVB-Lite mating connectorsEdit

J1, J2 and J3 are Hirose FX8C-140S-SV connectors that match the AxelEVB-Lite SOM connectors' pinout.

J4 - JTAGEdit

J4 is a SAMTEC FSI-110-03-G-S connector. The following table reports the connector's pinout:

Pin# Pin name Function Notes
1 DGND - -
2 JTAG_TCK - -
3 JTAG_TMS - -

5 JTAG_TDI - -

Boot mode selectionEdit

The following sections detail how to select the boot option depending on the adapter's revision.

For further details, please refer to this page, which describes the available boot modes thoroughly.

Revision 0Edit

This adapter provides a switch that allows selecting the boot device according to the following table. The available boot options differ depending on the Axel Lite type. In this regard, there are basically two types: those that are equipped with both NOR and NAND flash, and those that are equipped with NAND flash only.

Axel Lite type S1.2

position

on off
NOR and NAND flash microSD card NOR flash
NAND flash only microSD card NAND flash

It is worth remembering that, when using Axel Lite in combination with AxelEVB-Lite revision 0, the S5, S6, S7, S8, and S9 switches of the carrier board don't affect the boot options.

Revision AEdit

Revision A does not integrate any switch. To select the boot source, please use the S9.2 switch provided by the AxelEVB-Lite rev. A board instead.

The selectable boot options differ depending on the Axel Lite type. In this regard, there are basically two types: those that are equipped with both NOR and NAND flash, and those that are equipped with NAND flash only.
